Tai Chi in Atlanta, GeorgiaWhat Harvard Medical Says About Tai Chi& Hypertension. In a review of 26 studies in English or Chinese published in Preventive Cardiology (Spring 2008), Dr. Yeh reported that in 85% of trials, Tai Chi lowered blood pressure — with improvements ranging from 3 to 32 mm Hg in systolic pressure and from 2 to 18 mm Hg in diastolic pressure.

At Roswell Tai Chi we have found that one of the most reported benefits of practicing Tai Chi & Qi Gong is the improvement of hypertension in the body.

Tai Chi for Sleep Improvement

March is Roswell Tai Chi's Sleep Improvement Month

A Harvard Medical Study reports  In a University of California, Los Angeles, study 
of 112 healthy older adults with moderate sleep complaints, 16 weeks of tai chi improved the quality and duration of sleep significantly more than standard sleep education. The study was published in the July 2008 issue of the journal Sleep.

Several of our students have shared their experience with improvements in sleep patterns within a few days of beginning Tai Chi classes.

1.karate? self defense,learn how to fight.
2.bicycling?exercise cardio and legs.And possibly compete against other cyclists.
3.philosophy?to see and appreciate life and the world in different and more astute ways.
4.physical therapy?To rehabilitate from past physical injury and learn ways  to prevent future injury.

Since we have moved in to the industrial age and then the information age,we value the abilityto learn  because it directly ties in to the ability to earn. With this assumption learning becomes a product. A means to an end.
 
But once again we are moving into a new age. The age of understanding. "Understanding" poses the question, "How much do we know about what we know". The question of; "Is this information correct or incorrect" is being replaced with;" is this information useful and relevant".

One of the best physical rehabilitative aspects of Tai Chi is the
work it does on the knees.I have witnessed miraculous recovery of knee related injuries with the practice of Tai Chi.There are some logical reasons for this.As a low impact exercise, it builds,re builds,and then builds again the endurance,strength,balance and flexibility of the entire leg in a way that is gentle on the body and the joints.As you practice Tai Chi you will be learning the most efficient ways to move your body.Sometimes Tai Chi can be a humbling experience because it creates a re learning of some of the most basic actions like standing and walking.

If Tai Chi is a martial art,why is it practiced slowly?

 
 
First things first,all of tai chi is not practiced slowly. Some systems are practiced very quickly and others are practiced slow with quick bursts of motion. The authentic name is t'ai ji quan which means "greatest extreme
boxing" . So when you practice the form, you are studying the extremes of lightness and heaviness,fullness and emptiness,static and fluid etc.
 Why is a lot of tai chi in slow mo? From a martial perspective it's to increase your speed .
